WILMINGTON, Del. (AP)- A former Dover Air Force Base sergeant who pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography has been sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison.
Staff Sgt. Christopher Brandli had asked before Tuesday's hearing that he be sentenced to the 50 days he had already served.
But prosecutors said Brandli deserved more than a slap on the wrist and should be sentenced to 30 months behind bars.
Brandli faced a maximum of 10 years in prison for possessing child porn. He initially was charged with transporting child pornography on computer hard drives he took on a deployment to the Middle East in 2010.
Authorities said the child porn was discovered after another airman began using a computer that had Brandli's external hard drive still attached to it.
