DOVER, Del.- Delaware State Police say a woman and the 2-year-old daughter she was holding were injured after being struck by a minivan early Friday.
Police said the incident occurred at approximately 7:33 a.m. as 42-year-old Tracy M. Jones of Dover was operating a 1995 Mercury Villager eastbound on David Hall Road and approaching the stop sign with Nathaniel Mitchell Road. According to police, Jones became distracted in her vehicle and failed to see 23-year-old Jessica R. Smith of Dover crossing David Hall Road from south to north at the intersection.
Smith, who was carrying her 2-year-old daughter in her left arm, was struck on her left side. Smith's daughter was thrown to the ground as a result of the impact.
Smith and her daughter were taken to Kent General Hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.
Police said Jones, who was not injured in the crash, was cited for inattentive driving.
