Police Arrest Md. Man in 1991 Murder of Wife

ELKRIDGE, Md. (AP)- Howard County police say an Elkridge man has been charged in the 1991 murder of his wife after remains were found at the home they had shared.
Police say 57-year-old Robert Arnold Jarrett is being held on first- and second-degree murder charges with no bond in the death of his wife, Christine Jarrett. He was arrested on Wednesday while driving in Calvert County.
Authorities say Robert Jarrett reported his wife missing on Jan. 5, 1991, saying she had walked away from their home on Claire Drive after an argument. Police say they had long suspected foul play, but lacked the evidence at the time to prove it.
Authorities say they recently searched the home and found the remains of a woman believed to be Christine Jarrett buried in concrete under the floorboards of a shed.
The remains will be analyzed by the state medical examiner to confirm identity and cause of death. Personal effects located with the body indicate that it is likely to be Christine Jarrett, according to investigators.
