ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Federal environmental officials say the state of New York missed the deadline for filing its latest Chesapeake Bay restoration plan.
The Environmental Protection Agency said Tuesday that it had received final plans from 5 of the six states in the bay watershed and the District of Columbia. New York has filed a draft and the EPA said it was working with the state. The plans are the second set submitted by the six bay watershed states and include how they will achieve pollution reductions on the local level.
A telephone call by The Associated Press to New York's Department of Environmental Conservation seeking comment on the late filing was not immediately returned Tuesday afternoon.
The other states in the bay watershed are Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Delaware.
