All Schools Cleared in Kent County, Md. Following Bomb Threat

CHESTERTOWN, Md.- Maryland State Police say that following a bomb threat made early Tuesday, all schools in Kent County were searched by bomb detection teams and no explosive devices were found,.
At about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, police bomb detection teams completed searching the last school in Kent County and reported that no explosive devices were found in any of the schools searched. All facilities have been cleared by police, authorities said.
Police said that shortly before 8 a.m., school officials founds a handwritten note on a side door of the Kent County Middle School in Chestertown. According to troopers, the note claimed that a bomb had been placed in that school and also in all six other Kent County schools and they would detonate on Tuesday.
Schools were evacuated and closed while police responded and conducted the searches of all seven of the county's public schools. Police said that as a precaution, the three private schools in the county were also notified of the threat. Officials at those schools decided to close and requested police bomb sweeps of their facilities. In all, police said they searched 10 school facilities Tuesday in Kent County.
No arrests have been made in connection with the bomb threat. Anyone with information about who is responsible for the bomb threat is urged to contact police at (410) 758-1101 or (410) 778-1800.
