Wicomico County Outstanding Public Health Leader Award

SALISBURY, Md. - Wicomico County is kicking off National Public Health Week by honoring this year's Outstanding Public Health Leader.

The award was presented to Mariana Padley at Salisbury University Monday for her efforts in expanding health care access to the Hispanic community. She's a Spanish interpreter for the Health Department and says that it brings her joy to know that she is helping others.
"It feels wonderful - I'm just, I don't know what to say. I'm very surprised. I didn't expect this at all. I just like to help people. I like to help them, and people call me when they have a problem and I try to help them in any way," said Padley.

Mariana also received 2 citations - one from Senator Ben Cardin, and one from the County Executive Office presented by Rick Pollitt.
