Operation Safe And Sound

SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury Police Department wants to ensure your personal safety and the safety of your home with their new initiative, "Operation Safe and Sound."

Their first target area is Newtown. You'll see police officers, Safe Streets team members, neighborhood and city leaders knocking on your door. This is the first area to benefits from this program which will help assess the lighting around homes, check door and window locks and secure out-buildings, sheds and garages.
"We just want to make citizens aware that if they make themselves less inviting to a bad person, chances lessen that they will be a victim. We want to make contact with every single resident - we want it to be as personable as we possibly can," said Dr. Mark Bowen, Director of Safe Streets.

The mayor also plans to hand out energy-efficient light bulbs, courtesy of Delmarva Power. Officials will soon launch this operation in other neighborhoods throughout the city
