HARRINGTON, Del. – The Harrington Police Department arrested a man who was stopped by police for his fifth driving under the influence charge.
Police said on Saturday, 46-year-old James M. Chapman was stopped for a traffic violation as police were patrolling Route 13. Officers said when Chapman was pulled over, the scent of alcohol was detected and field sobriety tests were conducted. He was taken into custody and transported to the Harrington Police Department.
After a preliminary computer check, the scan showed Chapman's license had been suspended and he had been convicted of a DUI four other times, officers said.
Chapman was arrested and charged with Driving while Suspended or Revoked and his fifth DUI violation. He was sent to the Sussex Correctional Institute on $5,500 bond.
