FRUITLAND, Md.- Cramped quarters and a building out of code. That has been the situation inside the Fruitland Police Station. That will soon change, as a new police headquarters is almost ready to go.
The new station sits just down the street from its current spot. Construction began a year ago on the facility that will be home to Fruitland's finest in a few short weeks.
"The challenges were extreme but we have good subcontractors and a lot of support from the architectural group and with the city police department," said Butch Arnold, who has been working on the project.
Arnold said Fruitland's new police station is a state-of-the-art facility, inspired by technology and safety.

"There is no comparison," he explained. "IT devices, sensors, everything you would want in a police station. We're just putting the finishing touches on it and I feel it went very well."
