DOVER, Del.- A Dover man is in critical condition after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a house following a police chase.
Dover police said that late Monday night, April 2, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on four motorcycles in the area of the post office on Loockerman Street.
Officers said that one of the motorcycles stopped at the red light at Loockerman Street and U.S. Route 13, while the other three failed to stop and eluded police.
Police said two of the motorcyclists ran the red light at the highway and continued eastbound on East Loockerman Street. The officers did not pursue them.
Moments later residents from the 800 block of East Loockerman Street called 911 for a crash involving the two motorcycles that fled. Police said one of the motorcycle operators fled the scene on foot through rear yards and has not yet been apprehended.
The other operator, a 34-year-old male from Milford, whose motorcycle crashed into the side of a home, was transported to Kent General Hospital where he remains in critical condition. The home's occupants were not injured, according to police.
