Last Call For Liquor Set Earlier in Del. Town

SELBYVILLE, Del. - The Selbyville Town Council and Mayor passed an ordinance this week prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages after 11:30 p.m., and consumption after midnight. Town officials say this ordinance is meant to help police by limiting late night problems.
The ordinance also provides definitions for night club, bar, cocktail lounge and restaurant; it prohibits night clubs and bars in Selbyville. Existing restaurants and establishments have to file for a permit of compliance.
Some people in Selbyville say they're not happy with the new ordinance.
"We don't have many places where locals can frequent anyway," Robert Blake said. "So them putting a time limit on what we can do [...] is just kind of backwards."
Town officials say this ordinance will go into effect toward the end of April.
