Cape Henlopen School District Superintendent Dr. Kevin Carson has resigned.

Lewis-After only one year on the job, Cape Henlopen School District Superintendent Dr. Kevin Carson has resigned.
Carson submitted his resignation to the school board Thursday; he sent an email to staff Friday.
Statement by Kevin Carson
It is with regret that I have tendered my resignation from the Cape Henlopen School District. Of critical importance to any school district is the relationship between the Board and the Superintendent. This relationship is based primarily on a solid understanding about the responsibility to manage and direct the activities of the district. It is of utmost importance for the Board to be working with someone who is closely aligned with the Board’s current beliefs.
There are many outstanding students, teachers, administrators and staff who provide some extraordinary examples of great school work at Cape. To extend this high student performance to the next level will require a common strategic vision at the top of the organization.
I appreciate all of the courtesies extended to me by the Cape community and I wish for continued success and growth to the school district and to the next Superintendent.
Carson’s last day as superintendent will be July 29.
There’s been no word on when the search for a replacement for Carson will begin.
