Town Of Princess Anne Says No To Illuminated Fire Sign

PRINCESS ANNE, Md., - The Princess Anne volunteer fire department wants to put up a electronic sign. But town officials are saying no. Princess Anne city officials and the volunteer fire company are working together on a permit to install a new electronic sign. The permit was originally denied, because a town ordinance restricts the types of signs. Officials want to maintain the downtown historic district and illuminated signs are prohibited. But, there may be some light at the end of this tunnel. The ordinance does not mention newer electronic LED lights.
Steven Smith, a Princess Anne Volunteer Firefighter says, "The town's commissioners have been very grateful, to let us come speak to them at the Monday nights meeting. And they are working with us to help us achieve this goal. So that we can get our sign. And have been very helpful so far with the whole process."
The Princess Anne Volunteer fire department plans to share the use of the sign. Saying that local organizations, town commissioners, and local law enforcement will have the chance to utilize it.
