Delmarva Zoological Society's Big Announcement

The Salisbury Zoo held their annual Zoobilation fundraiser on Saturday May 5th. In honor of the holiday, the bash was Cinco De Mayo themed! This annual event is one of the zoo's biggest fundraiser parties of the year. There was plenty of food and fun for the 21 year-old and over crowd.

As an added bonus to the bash, board president J.P. DuBuque made a big announcement. The Delmarva Zoological Society raised more than 3 million dollars for their Renew the Zoo Capital Campaign. "This community has rallied to support our Zoo and we could not be more proud," DuBuque said.

The 3 million sum means that the Salisbury Zoo will be adding the "Discover Australia" exhibit. The exhibit is projected to be finished by fall 2012. The new exhibit will feature a few down under furry friends, including wallabies!

The Just Zoo It! Campaign, which partnered with the Wicomico County Board of Education and five area private schools last fall, gave coin collection cans to students to collect coins on Halloween and raised more than $30,000 for the Discover Australia exhibit.
