Wicomico County Schools Receive Academic Recognition

Wicomico County Board of Education is celebrating after a big announcement Monday. Nine Wicomico County elementary schools have received recognition for their students academic performance. This achievement was determined and assessed by how students performed during the 2011 Maryland State Assessment testing period.
Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Student Services, Dr. Margo Handy says this success is a collective effort of teachers and administrators and most importantly the students. The schools receiving recognition are, Beaver Run School, Delmar Elementary, Fruitland Primary, Glen Avenue School, North Salisbury Elementary, Northwestern Elementary, West Salisbury Elementary, Westside Intermediate and Willards Elementary.
Students from these schools will be recognized for their achievement at an upcoming ceremony. The 2012 Maryland State Assessment season beings tomorrow. Students will be assessed in various subjects including reading and math.
