SALISBURY, Md.- Salisbury police have arrested a suspect in connection with two armed robberies.
James Lee Mikel Webb, 22, of Salisbury, was taken into custody on Friday and charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of robbery, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.
According to police, shortly before 10 p.m. Friday, March 15, officers responded to the 900 block of Johnson Street for the reported armed robbery of a taxicab driver.
Upon arrival, officers learned that the taxicab driver had gone to a home on the 900 block of Johnson Street to pick up a fare. Police said that when the victim stopped in front of the home, a male suspect entered the vehicle and demanded money from the driver while holding a knife to his neck. According to police, the suspect was able to steal an undetermined amount of cash from the victim as well as the victim's wallet and the keys to the cab. The victim was not injured.
The second armed robbery allegedly occurred shortly after 10 a.m. Friday, March 16. According to police, a male suspect armed with a knife entered the Family Dollar located at 1527 North Salisbury Blvd. and demanded money from the cash register. Police said the suspect was wearing a distinctive white "hoodie," a covering over his face, and a baseball style hat. As the clerks were trying to get the money for the suspect, a customer entered the store. The suspect allegedly ordered the customer to leave and the customer complied. Several seconds later, the customer drove his vehicle up to the store's doors in an attempt to block the suspect inside. Police said the suspect managed to find a way out of the business, but left empty-handed The victims were not injured.
Detectives were able to obtain evidence that led them to a home on the 600 block of Decatur Avenue. Police said that armed with a search and seizure warrant, detectives located evidence linking a resident to both armed robberies. That resident, identified as Webb, was subsequently taken into custody on the aforementioned charges and turned over to the custody of Wicomico Central Booking.
