Body of Missing Md. Canoeist Found

OCEAN CITY, Md The body of the Maryland canoeist who went missing earlier this month was found Saturday afternoon in the Assawoman Bay in Ocean City.
Delaware State Police said that 23-year-old Nicholas Townsend of Ocean City was last seen at approximately 4:00 a.m., March 2, as he and another boater, Matthew Bullen, were canoeing in the Assawoman Bay off of Fenwick Island.

According to authorities, the canoe tipped over, throwing Townsend and Bullen into the water. Bullen was able to swim to the shore, however, Townsend was not.
Townsend's body was turned over to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Baltimore where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
Police said the investigation into this incident is continuing.
