Family Of Cambridge Shooting Suspect Pleading For Contact

CAMBRIDGE, Md., - A desperate plea from the family of a Cambridge man, accused of driving his truck toward two police officers, injuring one of them. The officers opened fire, but they don't know if the man was wounded.
Demetrice Demby's family is crying out to him, hoping the Cambridge man will turn himself in to police. His Aunt says, "Demitrice please contact somebody. Your mother needs you, contact us. All she is asking for is you."
The 39-year-old is accused of trying to run over a Cambridge police officer. Police say it all started as a routine traffic stop; But when a K9 started searching Demby's truck, he allegedly sped towards one of the officers who was in front of the vehicle. Officials say the two officers fearing for their lives opened fire, hitting Demby's truck several times as he fled the scene.
"We as a family feel we feel that the number of bullets was unjustified, and that we are doing everything in our powers to contact Demtrice or to find him", his Aunt says.
As the search for Demby continues, family members are banding together at his home and are hoping the search ends peacefully. Police say the officer was treated at the hospital for injuries including a broken ankle. Police don't know if Demby was wounded, but we're told there appeared to be blood in his truck. Once he's found, he will likely be charged with first degree attempted murder.
