FRUITLAND, Md.- A Salisbury man is behind bars on allegations that he picked up a large knife and threatened to kill a woman during a dispute.
Mario E. Morton, 43, is charged with first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and wear/carry a dangerous weapon.
The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office said Morton's arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at a home located on the 400 block of Skylar Drive in Fruitland.
According to police, the victim stated that she and Morton were arguing when Morton picked up a large knife and threatened to kill her. The victim told police that Morton was holding the knife over his head in such a manner that made her believe her life was in imminent jeopardy.
The deputy located Morton nearby and after an interview placed him under arrest on the aforementioned charges. He was ordered held in the Wicomico County Detention Center in lieu of $25,000 bond.
