OCEAN CITY, Md.- Ocean City police want the public to play it safe this holiday weekend.
On average, officers in the resort town issue one to three DUI citations every year on the day of the St. Patrick's Day Parade.
"For us this is one of our busier weekends," said Ocean City police spokesperson Jessica Waters, "And it's kind of a kickoff to our season."
Just in time for the weekend, the Maryland State Highway Administration has put in three crosswalk reminders around town to promote pedestrian safety.
The parade starts Saturday at noon on 61st Street. Traffic delays are expected. Route 50 is the recommended route into town. Police also advise those celebrating to have a plan in place before the partying begins.
