HARRINGTON, Del.- Harrington police have arrested a 27-year-old Tennessee man accused of sexually assaulting a 3-year-old child.
Joshua L. Fillyaw of Bristol, Tenn., is charged with one count of second-degree rape and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
According to police, Fillyaw's arrest stemmed from a sexual assault complaint the department received on Feb. 21, regarding an incident alleged to have occurred at a home on Fleming Street in Harrington.
Police said the investigation determined that on one occasion Fillyaw sexually assaulted a 3-year-old child. Officers attempted to locate Fillyaw but they said he fled to an unknown location. Officers obtained warrants for Fillyaw's arrest. Police were later contacted by authorities in Florida that Fillyaw had been taken into custody.
Fillyaw was jailed in Florida until March 20, when he was extradited to Delaware and turned over to the Harrington Police Department. Fillyaw was charged with the aforementioned offenses and ordered held in the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $75,000 cash bond.
