Felton Scrapple Maker Hit by Fire to Resume Production

FELTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware's smallest, and some say scrappiest, scrapple maker is preparing to start making the breakfast staple again seven months after a fire shut down operations.
Hughes' Delaware Maid Scrapple hopes to be back producing scrapple in April at its scrapple house near Felton.
After the August fire, members of the family-run company considered contracting production of the company's 8,000 pounds a week output to outside producers. However, co-owner Ray Quillen says they didn't want to share their recipe. Family members say their scrapple is milder than most because it doesn't have many of the hogs innards and trimmings that other brands use.
