Man Allegedly Starts Fight With Police

SALISBURY, Md. - A Salisbury man is facing charges for allegedly starting a fight with police and officials say alcohol is to blame.
Maryland State Police say the incident happened Sunday morning around 3:30 a.m. Troopers stopped a driver suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. After completing the investigation, police say the driver was arrested.
Police say the passenger of the vehicle, 32-year-old Colby Wolfensberger, was heavily intoxicated so he was taken back to the Maryland State Police - Berlin Barrack to await transportation from a friend to his residence.
Police say before arriving to the barrack Wolfensberger became combative, cursing civilians and Troopers who were coming and going from the barrack. Authorities say they even feared he was damaging police cars in the parking lot. Wolfensberger had also allegedly walked to the entrance of the barrack along U.S. Eastbound Route 50 and urinated on the sign and kicked it. When Troopers approached him, Wolfensberger allegedly swung at a Trooper and began to fight. Authorities eventually gained control of Wolfensberger and took him to the barrack.
He was transported to Atlantic General Hospital and examined. Police say it was later learned that Wolfensberger's alcohol content was recorded as .18 BAC.
Wolfensberger faces multiple charges including second degree assault and assault on a police officer. He is being held on $10,000 secured bond at the Worcester County Detention Center.
Authorities say one Trooper was sent to Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin for minor injuries. The Trooper was treated and released
