Delmar School district Envy, "AGAIN".a post from facebook

Wicomico County Schools should take some lessons from Delmar School. Today starts midterms and my son has 4 exams in the first 4 periods and unfortunately for him 4 of his main courses are the first four periods. To make matters worse 3 of his 4 teachers have been out this week. Delmar splits their exams out all week, 2 per day and closes the schools half a day all week for the kids to study for the next day. The pride is apparent at any of their school functions. Wicomico did away with the incentive program that was proven to be successful where kids were rewarded for a combination of good grades and good attendance and calulated whether they had to take the midterms. I don't know why I'm suprised when our own Council could care less about kids attending a school that is falling apart, infested with mice and bugs and mold everywhere. Time to make some changes!

It's ridiculous. I have become so fed up with the school systems here.(especially after last year!!) No wonder Salisbury has such a high crime rate, it's going to continue to get worse unless changes are made. On another note, if they want to cut the budget, I'd suggest clearing out some of the school's staff that are disrespectful to parents and students and the teachers that shouldn't be teaching a dog to fetch. That would add LOTS of money to the budget

I have emailed the Wicomico County Council over and over. THe future of our county is in the future of our education. Until we make it a priority, this county will always be poor.

Funny, I guess I took things like this for granted. We are so used to things like this in Delmar, it is hard to imagine how the rest of the world lives. I have always said that I would not want to send my child to a Salisbury school simply because I was afraid of negative influences. Yet, smaller things like this that we take for granted here in Delmar count a great deal as well. This not only makes sense for the ediucation of the child, but would work as a cost cutting measure also.
