Delmar Heritage Day 2012.

The Delmar Revitalization Committee met last night at Town Hall. The top discussion was Delmar’s Heritage Day. The strong tentative date is set for September 22nd. Dr. Ring will be able to confirm that date after Delmar’s Athletic Director firms up the fall sports’ schedule on February 1st.
The exciting news about this year’s Heritage Day is it will combine with the Delmar High’s Wildcat Pride Day. The Pride day was created in an effort to give parents an overview of what the school has to offer their students. It is imperative that parents get involved in their children’s education so they can have a successful and rewarding high school experience. Delmar’s staff and administration recognizes this and reaches out to the parents and community with a wonderfully planned event; Wildcat Pride Day.

Delmar’s Historical Society is planning some events for that day at the library and of course, the downtown area will have several activities and vendors.  Last year’s skateboard contest and basketball game seemed to be a big hit, so it looks like that will be brought back again this year. And of course, the fireworks display will end the evening!

Letters were sent out to all of the civic organizations in town asking them to come to the meeting to toss around ideas and be involved in the planning process!  Unfortunately, there were only a few who attended last night. Folks….the Revitalization Committee NEEDS YOU!!  This event is quite an undertaking and we need all hands on deck!  Our town is very unique and so is its history. This is a great opportunity for Delmar residents to know and understand the heritage of our town. But it is also a wonderful way to share our pride in our community with others!

The next meeting will be on February 15th!  Come by and see what it is all about!  The Revitalization Committee welcomes your input because this is YOUR TOWN!!
