DELMAR, Del. - U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-DE) plans to host a poultry summit on Monday with Delaware and Maryland Congressional leaders and State and industry leaders.
The summit will be held at the Delmar Volunteer Fire Hall. Leaders from Delaware and Maryland's poultry industry, state governments, and Congressional delegations are expected to attend including U.S. Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) and U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Barbara A. Mikulski (both –D-MD).
Officials say the leaders will discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by the poultry industry, a vital part of Delmarva Peninsula's economy. They say key topics facing the poultry industry include: domestic and export sales, labor needs, operating costs, and environmental issues.
The summit will be moderated by Delaware Agriculture Secretary Ed Kee. It will be closed to the press and the public
