Workplace Privacy Act Introduced In The State House

Legislation introduced in the state House Tuesday would outlaw the practice of a potential employer demanding your login and password at social media sites.
House Bill 308 sponsor Representative Darryl Scott calls an employer checking out a person’s profile an invasion of privacy – and demanding the login and password an ultimatum when people are looking for work.
The bill would forbid employers from requiring or asking for an employee or potential employee to give them a login or password to a social networking site.
Maryland passed a similar bill last month.
H.B. 308 has now been assigned to the House Telecommunications, Internet & Technology Committee.
