Woman Killed After Being Ejected From Truck

LEWES, Del. (WBOC/AP)- Delaware State Police say a woman who was ejected from a pickup truck and became entangled in a boat and trailer has died from her injuries.
It happened about 10:15 a.m. Tuesday on Angola Road south of Route 24 in Lewes. Troopers said 20-year-old Joshua D. Byrd of Lewes was driving a Ford F-250 pickup that was pulling a boat and trailer when he began to fall asleep.
Police said the pickup drifted off the road, and struck a ditch. A front-seat passenger, 20-year-old Elaina L. Nida of Lewes, was ejected from the vehicle and became entangled in the boat and trailer.
Troopers said Nida, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at a Beebe Medical Center. Byrd was also taken to Beebe where he was treated for injuries and released.
The crash is under investigation. Angola Road was closed for approximately two hours as the crash was investigated and cleared
