New Dover Bridge Could be in the Works

EASTON, Md. - Talbot and Caroline counties may soon have a long lost wish granted. In a bit of a surprise move, the president of the Maryland Senate has vowed to replace the Dover Bridge, despite a $50 million price tag.
There has been a decade-old push for a new Dover Bridge that connects Talbot and Caroline counties. Help appears to be on the way, but bridge users are not celebrating just yet.
"I'll believe it when I see it. They have been talking about it for years and it's never happened," said local resident Chris Lanning.
The Dover Bridge no longer meets national guidelines. For example, the bridge's lanes are 10-feet wide but national standards call for at least 12-feet.
Could this finally be the year that the Dover Bridge keeps the attention of state lawmakers? Area residents can only hope.
