Fruity Alcoholic Beverage Stirs up Controversy

SALISBURY, Md.- Hip hop legend Snoop Dogg has recently come under criticism for signing as the brand ambassador for Blast by Colt 45. The malt beverage, which comes in four fruity flavors, has 12 percent alcohol content and comes in colorful cans.
Jennifer Berkman, director of Salisbury University's Student Health Services, said the packaging and advertisements for Blast by Colt 45 could be misleading to teens and kids.
"Part of the problem is they look pretty benign in the way they're canned and marketed," Berkman said. "Some people may even confuse them with non-alcoholic."
Some managers of beer and wine stores nearby Salisbury University told this reporter that while they have beem approached by Blast vendors, none of them have any plans to carry the beverage.
