FENWICK ISLAND, Del. - Officials say they have suspended the search off the waters off of Fenwick Island for a missing canoeist.
The boater has been identified as 23-year-old Nicholas R. Townsend of Ocean City, Md.
According to Cpl. Gary Fournier of Delaware State Police, the original reports came in for a single missing person who capsized from a boat.
Police said Townsend's canoe tipped over, throwing Townsend and a second person into the water. Police say the other person was able to swim to shore. Their name is being withheld at the time.
