Scholarship fair coming up

SALISBURY – As college financial aid deadlines start to loom, Delmarva Education Foundation (DEF) is helping connect students to available aid by hosting the first annual Scholarship Fair for this region on Saturday at the Centre at Salisbury mall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. DEF is a local non-profit organization that helps people find money to continue their education.
“The DEF Scholarship Fair is designed to connect students who need financial aid with scholarship sponsors who are seeking applicants,” said Katherine Harting, DEF’s executive director. “Too often, free money is untouched because of lack of awareness for available dollars. This event will create awareness for the sponsors, connect the students with the money and educate them about the application process.”
Two local non-profit organizations, Kids of Honor and Horizons at Salisbury School, whose missions are closely-aligned with DEF’s, have signed on as event sponsors of the fair. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available.
DEF plans include a resource area where students can get help with the application process. For example, they may talk with local guidance counselors and financial aid officers, get started on the application process, and learn how to search DEF’s free, online database of local-priority scholarships
