LAUREL, Del.- The Laurel Town Council this week approved by a 4-1 vote an ordinance that would allow residents to apply for a permit to have a portable toilet on their properties for up to 100 days.
Portable toilets can be used for temporary public or private events with a permit from the town. Applications must be submitted at least a month before the event and notice of the application must be published in a town newspaper at least once before approval can be granted.
If a permit is granted, the cost ranges from $25 to $100 per toilet, depending on the length of time.
The issue of portable toilets on residential properties came before the council this past summer.
